Ed Sheeran beats Coldplay to claim the UK Number One album

Cover Drive also score a chart topper with 'Twilight

Ed Sheeran has taken the top spot in the Official UK Album Chart at the expense of Coldplay today (January 29).

The singer's debut album '+' is just ahead of Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto', which is up one place to Number Two. Adele, who topped the chart last week, is down two places to Number Three, with Bruno Mars at Number Four and Rizzle Kicks at Number Five, according to the Official Charts Company.

Country crooner Chris Isaak is new at Number Six, while Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds return to the Top 10 at Number Nine. Gallagher is sandwiched in between The Vaccines, who are at Number Eight, and Florence And The Machine, who are Number 10.

Lower down the chart, metallers Lamb Of God are new at Number 19 with 'Resolution', while Enter Shikari fall a whopping 23 places to Number 27.

In the Official UK Singles Chart, Cover Drive have taken the top spot with their single 'Twilight', which has knocked last week's Number One Jessie J down to Number Three and left David Guetta in second place with 'Titanium'.

Singer songwriter Gotye scores a big hit with his new single 'Somebody That I Used To Know', which debuts at Number Seven, while Flo Rida is new at Number Five with 'Wild Ones'.

Lana Del Rey meanwhile, has two singles in the UK Top 20, with her new hit 'Born To Die' entering at Number 14 and 'Video Games' holding firm at Number 20.

Her debut album, which is also called 'Born To Die', is released tomorrow (January 30).
