Editors have kicked off their three-date residency at Brixton Academy tonight (May 30).

The band are playing three nights at the London venue (May 31 and June 1 as well) as they conclude their current UK tour and clearly revelled in their biggest gig in the capital yet.

“It’s the most amount of people we’ve ever played to,” frontman Tom Smith told NME.COM.

“It's mad playing three Brixtons,” Smith added. “We were just planning on doing one and the second was just a bit like, ‘ha ha ha’. And then it was like, 'is doing three a bit of a piss-take?'”

The band used their first night at the London venue to showcase their debut album 'The Back Room' including crowd favourites ‘Munich’, 'Old Sparks' and ‘Blood’.

They also previewed two new songs, 'Bones' and 'The Weight Of The World', several b-sides including a new version of 'You Are Fading', before surprising fans during the encore by playing their cover of Talking Heads' 'Road To Nowhere'.

Editors played:

'Someone Says'
'All Sparks'
'Blood'
'Bones'
'Fall'
'The Weight Of The World'
'Bullets'
'Find Yourself A Safe Place'
'Release'
'Camera'
'You Are Fading'
'Munich'
'Open Your Arms'
'Lights'
'Road To Nowhere'
'Fingers In The Factories'

"This has been unbelievable," Smith told the crowd as the band concluded their set. "There are no words that can come out of my mouth now to express how I feel. Thank you!"

Editors are now set to complete their run at Brixton Academy before heading to Europe for a series festival appearances. They return to the UK for the Nokia Isle Of Wight Festival on June 10.
