Editors delay work on new album

Editors have admitted the belated success of debut album ‘The Back Room’ has delayed plans for a follow-up.

The album was released in July 2005, but only really took off earlier this year on the back of the re-release of single ‘Munich’.

Now the band are still plugging it – they are playing three sold-out nights at London Brixton Academy this week as part of a UK tour. And, after a busy summer doing festivals, they intend to get back into the studio to work on the follow-up.

Among the songs touted for inclusion on the new album are two tunes the band have started playing live – ‘Bones’ and ‘The Weight Of The World’.

Guitarist Chris Urbanowicz told NME.COM: “We’re getting there, we’ve got the two new songs, we’re playing live at the moment and other bits and bobs.”

“We had to pretty much start again on this album when ‘Munich’ went crazy.”

Frontman Tom Smith added: “Because of the way it’s gone, the way’s it kicked off since the New Year, the whole campaign’s kind of longer than it should have been.”

Drummer Ed Lay revealed: “Were doing a load of festivals in the summer, then when September comes we’ll knuckle down and do the new album.”

But Smith sounded a note of caution about the name of one of the new songs.

He admitted: “I’ve just heard that ‘Bones’ is the name of a track on the new Killers album!”
