Editors compete with Killers and Razorlight
They work with Bloc Party's producer on new LP
Editors are ready to compete with The Killers and Razorlight on their new album.
The band who have been working with Bloc Party producer Jacknife Lee in Grouse Lodge studios on the follow up to 2005’s ’The Back Room’.
Speaking in this week’s NME, frontman Tom Smith said that with the new songs the band were ready to compete with the "big boy" bands.
He said: “We are making the songs that will compete with your Killers and Razorlights and I don’t see why we shouldn’t do so. I think we’ve got them in our sights with this record.”
Smith said that the band have already written a clutch of anthems for the as-yet-untitled set.
He said: “There are four or five huge, massive sounding songs…Songs like ’Bullets’ and ’Munich’ were big songs and that is something we haven’t shied away from.”
The album, which is set to be released in April, includes the new songs ’Smoking Outside The Hospital Doors’, ’When Anger Shows’ and ’The Racing Rats’.
