Eels are set to release their first ever best of and rarities collections in the New Year.

The albums, entitled ‘Meet The Eels: Essential Eels Vol. 1’ and ‘Eels Useless Trinkets: B-Sides, Soundtracks, Rarities And Unreleased 1996-2006’ respectively, will also feature bonus DVDs.

‘Meet The Eels: Essential Eels Vol. 1’ features 24 tracks from the band’s career, including a previously unreleased version of Missy Elliott’s ‘Get Ur Freak On’, as well as twelve of the group’s videos on the DVD.

‘Eels Useless Trinkets: B-Sides, Soundtracks, Rarities And Unreleased 1996-2006’ is a two CD and one DVD set, featuring many previously unheard tracks, including the group’s 2006 cover of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins' ‘I Put A Spell On You’ and a version of Prince’s ‘If I Was Your Girlfriend’.

The DVD features six songs from the group’s live set at Lollapalooza last year.

Mainman Mark Oliver Everett is also writing his autobiography, 'Things The Grandchildren Should Know', due for publication in 2008.
