Elbow and former Smith to get their own shows

A host of Manchester legends are set to become DJs on a new local radio station.

Elbow’s Guy Garvey, former man Andy Rourke and the Inspiral CarpetsClint Boon are all set to host shows on XFM, which launches in Manchester on March 15.

Garvey and Rourke will host weekend shows for the station along with Factory Records impresario Tony Wilson.

Boon, meanwhile, will host Monday to Thursday evening show 'Music:Response', which includes the listeners’ chart.

XFM won the 97.7FM license for the Manchester area late last year, there is also now a Scottish variant of XFM plus the original London station.
