Elbow 'honoured' to be on Mercury Prize shortlist
Elbow, Album review
Guy Garvey gives NME.COM his reaction to nomination
Guy Garvey has reacted to Elbow being nominated for Nationwide Mercury Prize this morning (July 22).
The band's fourth album 'The Seldom Seen Kid' was named on the 12-strong shortlist for the 2008 award. It's the second time the band have been nominated, after their debut 'Asleep In The Back' was picked in 2001.
"Awards that aren't about record sales but lead people to good music are a great thing," Garvey told NME.COM. "The Mercury has led us to some of our favourite music over the years and it's an absolute honour to be involved in the shortlist. As this is the first record we've made all on our own, you can imagine how happy we are."
