Ellie Goulding on Skrillex: 'We're not like Kylie and Michael Hutchence'
Singer says her relationship with the EDM superstar isn't based on drugs
The singer says she's tired of hearing people commenting on her boyfriend, whose real name is Sonny Moore, and hates that some have compared their relationship to "when Kylie met Michael Hutchence".
She told The Sun:
But it's not like that — drugs etc. It's absolutely not that. I did all that stuff when I was young. I've always been bright and I’m sensible enough now to not be so easily influenced by someone.
In the interview, Goulding says her long-awaited second album 'Halycon' hasn't been influenced by the EDM star, despite what some have said, and revealed the new record is about her break-up with Radio 1 DJ Greg James.
Goulding explained: "It's personal to me, very personal. But my songs are always about things I experience and my ex knows that and my guy now knows that and even my friends know that — everyone knows that. Greg and I are still friends. Yes, I was worried about what he’d think about these songs, but he’s heard them and is fine."
'Halcyon' contains a total of 10 tracks, including the singer's recent single 'Anything Could Happen' and 'Hanging On', her duet with Tinie Tempah, which was made available as a free download earlier this year. 'I Need Your Love', Goulding's collaboration with Calvin Harris, leaked on YouTube today (October 5). You can hear the track below.
In support of the new album, the follow-up to 2010's hugely successful debut album 'Lights', the singer will play nine shows at the tail end of 2012.
