Skrillex and Ellie Goulding have reportedly ended their relationship after nine months together.

Goulding, who previously dated Radio 1 DJ Greg James, is believed to be blaming the split on the long-distance nature of the relationship. Goulding is based in London and currently promoting her new album 'Halcyon' around the world whist Skrillex, real name Sonny Moore, lives in America.

Speaking to The Sun, a source confirmed the split, stating: "It's really sad, they were really good for each other. They just couldn't make it work. They both have successful careers and live in different countries."

The musical couple met when Goulding was recruited to record vocals on Skrillex track 'Summit' and the 'Anything Can Happen' singer recently revealed she was keen to make a whole album with her now ex-boyfriend. "I think in an ideal world we'd love to make a whole record together... but it just so happens that we're both ridiculously busy," Goulding told The AP. "When it comes to music, it honestly is really professional. Honestly."

Meanwhile, it was recently confirmed that Skrillex will record all of the music for new Disney film Wreck-It Ralph and will also make a cameo appearance in the animated film.
