Elton John and his civil partner David Furnish have become parents for the second time after another son was born last Friday (January 11).
Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John arrived in Los Angeles on Friday evening, weighing 8lb 4oz, via an unnamed surrogate.
The couple have said that the arrival of their second son "completes our family in a most precious and perfect way". They went on to tell Hello! magazine: "It is difficult to fully express how we are feeling at this time; we are just overwhelmed with happiness and excitement."
The singer has spoken before about how he wanted more children as he didn’t want his first son Zachary to grow up an only child, and it’s reported that the couple have used the same unnamed California-based surrogate mother who gave birth to Zachary.
The couple, who became civil partners in 2005, also added: "Both of us have longed to have children, but the reality that we now have two sons is almost unbelievable."
Last week, a UK spokesman for the couple was forced to issue a statement refuting rumours that they had become parents again. Soon afterwards news started circulating in the US that they’d had a child who had been born over the Christmas period.
Elton John is set to headline a Bruce Springsteen tribute concert in Los Angeles alongside Mumford and Sons and Neil Young next month.
