Elton John: Doherty needs a hug
Musical knight still backs the Libertine
Elton John has backed Pete Doherty to recover from his drug addiction – with the help of a hug.
John, who collaborated with Doherty at this year’s Live 8 concert in London, said that it was wrong to write off the former Libertine due to his drugs battles.
“Addiction is a horrible thing, it’s nothing to be laughed at,” John told Virgin Radio. “I look at Pete Doherty and I just want to put my arm round him.”
Doherty, meanwhile, is set to conclude Babyshambles' UK tour tomorrow night (October 11) at Brixton Academy in London.
