Elton John praises Eminem for kicking drug addiction

Slim Shady is "doing brilliantly", according to the Rocket Man

Elton John praises Eminem for kicking drug addiction
Elton John has discussed helping Eminem to beat an addiction to prescription pills.

The 'Rocket Man' singer told BBC 5Live: "I've been helping Eminem over the last 18 months and he's doing brilliantly."

Speaking to Danny Baker, John revealed his own problems with drugs had made him "arrogant" and "cocky".

John added: "I'm there if people want my help. If people ask for help you tell them where to go but there's no point advising people if they don't want to do it."

Last year, Eminem discussed the pair's counselling sessions with The Sun.

He told the newspaper: "He [Elton] understands, like, the pressure and any other reasons that you wanna come up with for doing drugs.

"So I told him, 'Look, I'm going through a problem, and I need your advice."

Danny Baker's interview with Elton John is available to watch on the BBC iPlayer for the next seven days (until January 9).
