Elton John tells Madonna to 'lip-sync good' ahead of Super Bowl show

Singer reignites feud with Queen of Pop after Golden Globes controversy

Elton John has reignited his feud with Madonna by telling the singer to "lip-sync good" ahead of her Super Bowl halftime show this weekend (February 5).

Madonna is expected to perform tracks from her forthcoming new studio album 'MDNA' during the sporting event, but in an interview with US television show Good Morning America, John insisted that he didn't expect the pop icon to sing live.

When asked what advice he had for the singer ahead of the show, John – whose civil partner, David Furnish, publicly slammed Madonna after she beat John to the Best Original Song gong at this year's Golden Globes awards – replied:

Make sure you lip-sync good. Of course you have to play live, but I don't think you can. In all fairness to everyone who's done it before, I think you may be able to sing live, but it's really hard to play live.

John's comments seemingly reignite his feud with Madonna after Furnish described her Golden Globes victory as a "fluke" and claimed that the integrity of the awards should be called into question, although he did later claim that the spat had been "blown way out of proportion".

Yesterday (January 31), Madonna promised that there will be no nipple flashing 'wardrobe malfunctions' when she takes to the Super Bowl stage in Indianapolis. It was confirmed earlier this week, meanwhile, that both MIA and Nicki Minaj would be joining the singer for the performance.

The pair both feature on Madonna's forthcoming single, 'Give Me All Your Luvin'', which is set for release on February 3. It's the first single to be taken from Madonna's forthcoming album, 'MDNA', which is out on March 26 through Interscope Records.
