Elvis Presley piano going for a million
Piano for sale as fans mark 30th anniversary King's death
A piano that belonged to Elvis Presley is being auctioned online to coincide with the 30th anniversary of his death on Thursday (August 16).
It is thought that the piano, a white Knabe baby grand, could go for £1 million ($2 million). The auction began this week, and runs until August 18.
Presley bought the piano from a music store in Memphis, Tennessee in 1957. It stayed at Presley’s Graceland mansion for 12 years until 1969, when it was replaced by a gold leaf piano that Priscilla Presley gave her then husband.
A spokesperson for the selling company told auction site eBay: “The starting price is $250,000 (£124,970) but we hope to sell it for somewhere around $2 million (£1 million)."
A week of events to make the anniversary of Presley’s death is due to begin on Saturday (August 18) at Graceland.
