Lisa Marie Presley sues Daily Mail for weight gain story

Elvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, has announced she is suing The Daily Mail for printing a story about her weight gain, when she is in fact pregnant.

The story, which was republished in a number of other publications around the world, claimed that the singer was heavily gaining weight through overeating and "growing like her dad".

The accusations forced Presley to reveal her pregnancy after the photos of her eating in Los Angeles emerged.

Posting on her Myspace page, Presley said: “After being the target all week of slanderous and degrading stories, horribly manipulated pictures and articles in the media, I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant.

“How [the press] have handled themselves with this has been nothing short of irresponsible and disgusting.”

Presley has had two other children, and was previously married to Michael Jackson and actor Nicolas Cage.
