The King wore the peacock suit on an album cover

A blue-and-gold peacock jumpsuit worn by Elvis Presley has sold for $300,000 in an online auction.

The King first wore the costume at a concert at the Los Angeles Forum in 1974, and later donned it on the cover of his album 'Promised Land'.

The hand-embroidered suit was made by Los Angeles designer Bill Belew who made many of Presley's costumes, reports the Associated Press.

The suit was auctioned off by Gotta Have It! auctioneer at 3:00am PST today (August 7).
