A war of words erupts over new divorce

A war of words has erupted between Eminem and his estranged wife Kim Mathers.

As previously reported, the couple have filed for divorce following just three months of their second marriage and now they have broken their silence as to why their relationship has broken down again.

Speaking on Detroit radio station Mojo yesterday (March 7), Kim Mathers claimed Eminem had not overcome a previous drugs problem that saw him forced to under go counselling and drugs tests after he was given probation for a weapons charge in 2001.

"He's having problems with, you know, his problem that he had,” she said “I was hoping we could get counselling and work it out, you know? I hope in his best interest that he does return to rehab."

She added that she had only learnt of the impending separation from the rapper, real name Marshall Mathers, from listening to the radio.

"I see him doing a lot of things I did when I had my problem,” she explained referring to her arrested in 2003 for cocaine possession. “I see exactly the same pattern."

However Eminem hit back emailing the station after the interview was broadcast.

"Her allegations regarding my status post-rehab are both untrue and unfortunate,” he wrote. “Second, she was aware that I was filing for divorce. We both tried to give our marriage another chance and quickly realised that a wedding doesn't fix the underlying problems."

This is not the first dispute between the couple. The pair were originally married in 1999 before divorcing in 2001 and have a daughter together, Hailie Jade Scott.

The couple then remarried at the beginning of this year.

Eminem's relationship with Kim has been the motivation behind a number of the rapper's songs over the years, most notably 'Kim'.
