Eminem has beaten Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber to become the first musician to secure 30 million followers on Facebook.

The Detroit rapper's Facebook page, Facebook.com/eminem, is the most popular artist profile on the social networking site.

Lady Gaga is not far behind, with her followers currently numbering 29.9 million at Facebook.com/ladygaga. Justin Bieber has just over 29 million followers at Facebook.com/justinbieber.

Eminem's achievement is made all the more remarkable as, according to AOL Music, one year ago he had only 2.7 million followers.

This figure was less than artists including Rihanna, Bieber and Shakira boasted at the time.

Lady Gaga does have a much bigger Twitter presence than Eminem, though. 8.7 million people follow her at Twiter.com/ladygaga.

Eminem has 3.4 million followers of his page, Twitter.com/eminem.
