Eminem to release new album this year, says record label boss
Shady Records president says rapper's new LP expected in 2013
Paul Rosenberg has told Billboard that the rapper is "far into the process" of putting out a new LP and confirmed that the record would be released at some point after Memorial Day - a holiday in the US which takes place on the final Monday of May every year.
Speaking about the as-yet-untitled album, which will be Eminem's eighth studio album and his first release since his 2011 EP 'Hell: The Sequel' under his Bad Meets Evil project with Royce da 5'9', he said: "We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013. He's been working on it for some time. It's safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when. We've got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up."
Rosenberg also said that Shady Records is planning on releasing 50 Cent's much-delayed album 'Street King Immortal' in the first half of this year, too, although there is no confirmed release date yet.
Last month, it was revealed that Eminem will play an outdoor gig in Glasgow this August, with the rapper the first act announced for a brand new concert series called the Glasgow Summer Sessions. He will take to the stage in the city's Bellahouston Park on August 20.
In December, meanwhile, he was revealed as the headliner for this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals, which take place between 23 and 25 August. He has also announced a massive Irish gig at Slane Castle on August 17.
