EMINEM is reported to be considering pleading guilty to the outstanding criminal charges against him in an attempt to avoid jail time.

According to a report in this morning's Detroit Free Press (April 18), Eminem's lawyer has said he is hoping to get a lesser sentence of probation if the rapper pleads guilty to two outstanding charges - carrying a concealed weapon and brandishing a firearm in public.

The charges stem from an alleged altercation with an associate of the rival rap group Insane Clown Posse last June. The maximum sentence Eminem could receive is five years in jail, if convicted.

The rapper's attorney, Wally Piszczatowski told the paper he has met with prosecutors. He said: "My hope is to keep him on probation."

Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor Mark Bilkovic added: "He could plead straight up and work out a sentencing deal with the judge. In a case like this, I wouldn't go in screaming for jail time."

Eminem is due in court this coming Monday (April 23) for a pretrial.

Last week, Eminem was sentenced to two years probation on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. The sentence related to an incident outside a nightclub in Warren, Michigan, when he saw a man kissing his wife Kim.
