Eminem is set to play London's Wembley Stadium on July 11.

The rapper announced the news on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show earlier this evening (May 6). Speaking to the DJ, the rapper spoke about playing his first London show since 2001, saying that they originally planned to appear at Hyde Park: "I know Wembley Stadium's huge." He added that he's not currently looking to do lengthy tours, but would rather focus on big one-off concerts. "I'm not saying I'll never be ready for that again, but right now, this is what's working for me."

Speaking about working with live musicians on his current stage show, he commented: "It's definitely better. It definitely brings a whole new element to it... There's a whole different energy. It's louder, it's more in your face, it's more explosive."

Eminem added that he's currently working on producing albums for Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf and spoke about his new rap battle league called Total Slaughter. "We're trying to take the best of the best and put them up against each other," he told Lowe. The intention of Total Slaughter is to raise the profile of battle rapping, which helped Eminem get his break at the start of his career when he was living in Detroit. The first event will take place on the same day as his Wembley show, on July 11 at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom and will be streamed on hip-hop website WatchLOUD, in conjunction with Eminem's film company Shady Films.

Artists lined up to take part in the first battle include Eminem's Shady Records signing Joe Budden facing off against Hollow Da Don, as well as a rematch between Harlem's Murda Mook and Loaded Lux. "I'm a passionate battle fan, so this is something I've always thought about doing," Eminem previously told Rolling Stone. "I came up battling at the same time I was making records and learning my way around the studio. It's a little bit different in terms of the kinds of tools you need, but the competitiveness is the same. The times I didn't win gave me just as much light in the past as when I did. It's all about your performance."
