Authorities wanted to shut down last night's homecoming gig
Enter Shikari played a triumphant homecoming show last night (July 22) in St Albans, despite a huge crackdown from local authorities.
The area's council had been campaigning to have the Alban Arena show called off in the build-up, citing “security fears” and according to the band’s management, there were "16 plain-clothes police officers in the audience".
In reaction, Enter Shikari singer Rou Reynolds dedicated ‘OK, Time For Plan B’ to St Albans’ city council, saying, “The council wanted another two grand to control you lot,” and describing the local authority as not doing “one thing for youth or music in this city”.
The show was a fund-raiser for St Albans’ Pioneer Youth Centre, which is under threat of closure.
The band invited local unsigned bands to support them at the gig, who invaded the stage for a euphoric end to the show.
Bassist Chris Batten said: "Today is about the local talent in Hertfordshire."
Enter Shikari played:
'Enter Shikari'
'Feast'
'Return To Energiser'
'Jonny Sniper'
'No Sssweat'
'Anything Can Happen In The Next Half Hour'
'Labyrinth'
'Adieu'
'Mothership'
'Sorry, You're No A Winner'
'OK, Time For Plan B'
