Enter Shikari, The Maccabees, Pure Love open up about their favourite song lyrics – video

Passion Pit and The Vaccines are also asked the question, but give rather bizarre answers...

Video: What's Your Favourite Song Lyric?

Enter Shikari, The Maccabees and Pure Love have all revealed to NME what their favourite song lyrics are.

Speaking in a video which you can see above, The Maccabees' Felix White named a line from Bob Dylan's 'Tombstone Blues', despite admitting that he didn't have a clue what the line in question meant.

He said when asked for his favourite lyric, White said: "When I was a kid my dad 'Highway 61' Revisited' and I used to listen to it a lot and for some reason I really loved the line ''The sun is not yellow, it's chicken''. I wrote it really big on my wall. I don't know why it appealed to me; I don't know what it means."

Enter Shikari were in a jokier mood, naming Scatman John's 'Scatman's World' and specifically the line " If part of your solution isn't ending the pollution , then I don't want to hear your stories told."

Pure Love's Frank Carter named The Beatles' 'When I'm 64' and The Beach Boys' 'God Only Knows' as his choices, while his bandmate Jim Carroll named Bruce Springsteen as his favourite lyricist.

Both The Vaccines and Passion Pit however wouldn't be drawn on the question, with both saying it was too difficult to name just one.

This week's NME is dedicated to the world's best lyricists, with the likes of Kurt Cobain, Alex Turner, PJ Harvey, Jarvis Cocker, Bruce Springsteen, Richey Edwards and Bob Dylan all celebrated.
