Guitar legend ERIC CLAPTON has become a father, after his girlfriend MELIA McENERY gave birth to a 7lbs 1 oz daughter, called JULIE ROSE, called after CLAPTON's grandmother.
Clapton, 56, was by 25-year-old Melia's side when she gave birth last week. A spokespeson told The Sun newspaper: "Eric s bsolutely thrilled. He held Melia's hand as Julie Rose came into the world."
It is 10 years since Clapton's four-year-old son Conor tragically died in a fall from the 53rd floor window of his New York apartment. The tragedy led to him writing the song 'Tears In Heaven'.
Clapton also has a 16-year-old daughter, Ruth.
