Europe are set to return to the studio to make a new album with producer Kevin Shirley.
The rockers, best known for their 1986 hit, 'The Final Countdown', but still one of Sweden's biggest bands, will hit the studio with acclaimed rock producer Shirley this autumn.
Making the announcement, frontman Joey Tempest said: "We still feel we have one hell of a rock record to make. Kevin's the man for the job. We love his work with Bonamassa, Black Country Communion and Black Stone Cherry. He's the real deal. We’re ready to do some serious damage."
He added: "We've toured for one and a half years. It's time to write and record some new songs and get back on the road again in 2012."
Looking ahead to the new record, Shirley said: "I've been a big fan of Europe's work for many years. The band is influential and highly underrated. I can't wait to make the upcoming album their most explosive to date."
Recording for Europe's ninth album is due start in Stockholm on October 2, ahead of a slated April 2012 release date.
Before that, the band release a DVD, 'Europe: Live At Shepherd's Bush', which features the previously-unreleased song 'Doghouse'.
