COUNTRY FEEDBACK

The Lemonhead and friends are 'standing in the shadow of the grievous angel'...

COUNTRY FEEDBACK

EVAN DANDO, Ed Harcourt and JIM LAUDERDALE are to headline 'STANDING IN THE SHADOW OF THE GRIEVOUS ANGEL' on November 15 in a tribute concert to country-rock legend GRAM PARSONS.

Taking place at London's Islington Union Chapel as part of the Barbican's 'Way Beyond Nashville' season, the intimate gig will mark the 30th anniversary of Parsons’ death - aged just 26 - which fell on September 19. The line-up will also include Grand Drive, The Coal Porters, Adam Masterson and Gram Parson's only child Polly Parsons.

The Sin City All Stars, featuring BJ Cole, will be the house band for the event.

Parsons found fame through The International Submarine Band, Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers as well as through his solo work, though tragically died on September 19, 1973 when he overdosed on morphine and tequila at The Joshua Tree Inn in the Californian desert.

His death also took a bizarre twist when road manager Phil Kaufman stole Gram's body, took it back to the desert, doused it in petrol and burned it.
