Evanescence have announced that guitarist Troy McLawhorn has rejoined the band.

McLawhorn, who up until last month was part of alt.rock band Seether, announced last week that he had left the band to "pursue other interests" and is now working with Evanescence on their third album.

The guitarist had previously toured with the band throughout 2007-2008 and is now assisting with the recording of the long-awaited follow up to 2006's 'The Open Door'.

The goth rockers are currently working on the album with Foo Fighters producer Nick Raskulinecz and have said they hope to release it later this year.
