Evanescence's Amy Lee: 'Our new album is about our fans'
Singer says her relationship with fans dominates the lyrical themes of band's new LP
The Arkansas band are currently putting the finishing touches to their self-titled third album, which is due for release on October 10. A single 'What You Want' will precede it in early August.
Speaking to Kerrang!, Amy Lee said:
I can really hear myself singing about my relationship with Evanescence and with the fans. There's always one big relationship on a record that I sing about the most. I feel like my big relationship on this album with Evanescence itself, and with the fans. I think lyrically you're hearing a lot about a relationship, a struggle with a relationship or love in a relationship, and mostly I'm singing about that.
The singer has previously said that the band have taken inspiration from MGMT and Portishead on their new album, which has been produced by Foo Fighters knob twiddler Nick Raskulinecz.
The band recently announced a UK tour for November, their first for 4 years, which now includes two shows at London's HMV Hammersmith Apollo.
