Eve sentenced for drink driving offence

EVE must wear an alcohol-detecting bracelet for 45 days after pleading no contest to driving under the influence of alcohol in a Los Angeles court yesterday (June 28).

The rapper, whose real name is Eve Jihan Jeffers, was arrested on April 26 for driving under the influence, as previously reported. Her Maserati had crashed on Hollywood Boulevard.

EVE was not present in court when her lawyer entered the plea on her behalf. She could have faced up to six months in jai and $1,000 fine, but was sentenced to 36 months of probation and a $390 fine. She must also attend 10 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, reports the Associated Press.

EVE won a Grammy for her 2001 collaboration with Gwen Stefani, and is a protégé of Dr. Dre.
