Example has cancelled his October gig dates while he recovers from a leg injury.

The rapper and singer has pulled nine gigs this month due to his Achilles tendonitis – a condition which causes pain in the back of the leg – but is hopeful he will recuperate for shows in November and December.

Example made the announcement via Twitter yesterday (October 2), writing: "With huge regret I've had to cancel/reschedule all my Oct shows. My achilles tendinitis has got worse and I need time to recover..." He added: "Hoping to be back to full fitness asap and in time to play my November/December shows. Details of the rescheduled shows soon."

Example was due to tour South Africa, kicking off in Cape Town on October 4 then Durban (5) and Johannesburg (6) before moving on to play Doha, Qatar (11), Dubai (12), Bangalore in India (13), University of Hertfordshire (16), Los Angeles (25) and Oakland in the US on (26).

The singer releases his new studio album 'The Evolution Of Man' on November 18. The record will feature 12 new tracks, including current single 'Say Nothing', while the deluxe version will include five bonus tracks.

Example has previously promised that 'The Evolution Of Man' is "going to be a rock album" and has named Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and The Strokes as key influences. He told NME: "It's going to be a rock album but produced electronically – every track's got huge guitar riffs. I'm pretty much singing and trying to do impressions of Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters."

In support of the album, Example will go on a 12-show trek across the UK. The run of shows kicks off on February 11 at Bournemouth International Centre and runs until March 1 when Example headlines Manchester Arena.

He will also play shows in Nottingham, London, Newcastle, Liverpool, Sheffield, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Brighton on the tour.

Example will play:

Bournemouth International Centre (February 11)
Nottingham Capital FM Arena (12)
Liverpool Echo Arena (13)
Sheffield Motorpoint Arena (15)
Newcastle Arena (16)
Glasgow SECC (17)
Aberdeen AECC (18)
London Earls Court (23)
Cardiff Motorpoint Arena (25)
