Fall Out Boy have spoken out about collaborating with Jay-Z on their new album ’Infinity On High’.
Jay-Z appears on ’Thriller’, the opening track of the album.
Bassist Pete Wentz said of the collaboration: “He is one of the few people I still get starstruck by, but I had to get past that.
“It took a lot of convincing more than anything. Then we had to pin him down as he is a busy man. It’s the perfect way to start the album and really sets the tone.”
Speaking about seeing other emo bands as rivals, Wentz said: “Those guys are doing really well - Panic! in particular. I guess I do see them as competitors now.”
Wentz also said that working with producer Babyface on ’I’m Like A Lawyer With The Way I’m Always Trying To Get You Off (Me + You)’ and ’Thnks Fr Th Mmrs’ was a “learning experience.”
He told Something For The Weekend: “We learned a lot musically from him, though it took a while for us to bring him into our circle of trust.
“It’s not an easy thing to do when you are so tight, so it was a learning experience.”
