Fall Out Boy pen new songs

But band say they're holding them back

Fall Out Boy have written a number of new songs for the follow up to current LP 'Infinity On High' - but are in no hurry to release them.

Lead singer Patrick Stump said that he wants to give the band’s latest album, released earlier this year, "some space".

Speaking to Billboard he said: “I’ve got a bunch of songs written, but I think I’m going to wait a while before we release it, because I’m still really proud of this record and I want to kind of give it some space.”

Stump said that they were influence by a comment Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong made about the progression of their sound.

He said: “(Armstrong said) he didn’t want to play four-chord punk rock for the rest of his life. If anybody knows anything about punk rock more than Billie Joe from Green Day, I don’t know who it is. So I looked at that and their growth, and I think about how honest that is. They’re really just true to what they are, and so that’s how we are.

“I think we’ll change stylistically, but at the end of the day, that’s just something you wear. You’re still yourself.”

Meanwhile. Fall Out Boy have shot the video for forthcoming single ’I’m Like A Lawyer With The Way I’m Always Trying To Get You Off (Me & You)’.

In addition Stump is producing the new album from band Cobra Starship.

Fall Out Boy will returning to the UK in August, playing with Panic! At The Disco as part of the Decaydance Tour in London on August 22.
