Fall Out Boy believes Californians were deceived into voting for Prop 8
Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz said that he believes California voters were deceived into voting for Proposition 8, which bans same-sex marriage.
It looks as though the ballot initiative has passed, which would call into question the legitimacy of same-sex unions in the state and ban future gay marriages, but the race is so close that it has not yet been called.
"Many people were intimidated on this issue due to the scary misleading communications on the other side," Wentz said in a statement. "I believe that this is, and has always been, a civil rights issue. We should not allow inequality like this in America."
He also blogged on the topic before the election, saying, "There are a lot of causes out there -- a lot of 'good' fights to be fought. I think Proposition 8 is pretty lame -- as many others do too. It's fucking lame."
