The star reckons if you can't beat 'em, join 'em...

FATBOY SLIM has joined the increasingly crowded music
download market by backing the launch of a site aimed squarely at DJs and
dance music fans.

The superstar DJ, also known as Norman Cook, has come together with former Underworld member Darren Emerson to license tracks from their Southern Fried and Underwater labels
through Trax2Burn.com.

"It's really a case of 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em' so now Southern
Fried tracks are available to everyone online," said Cook.

Trax2Burn.com say they will succeed in 2004 as an
increasing number of DJs are turning to CD rather than vinyl.

"For me, as a DJ, I'm always on the move from country to country and
record bags always get lost. CDs are easier to carry about and if my bags do
get lost I can always download any tracks that I really wanted to play out,"
Emerson told The Guardian.

trax2burn.com are just the latest site to legitimate
site to launch in Britain this year. MyCokeMusic.com, launched on Tuesday
(January 20), but got off to a shaky start as it was beset by gremlins that
left it inaccessible.

Meanwhile, Apple's iTunes and Napster 2.0 are both expected to launch services in the UK before Easter.
