FATBOY'S LA AWE

The superstar DJ puts some records on for the superstars...

FATBOY SLIM has told NME.COM he was "prostituting" himself by performing at the 'VANITY FAIR' post-OSCARS party at the weekend (March 25)

Slim DJed at the event at Morton's restaurant in Beverly Hills, which attracted a stellar line-up of guests including Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, Sean 'Puffy' Combs, Jennifer Lopez, actors Samuel L Jackson, Julia Roberts, Elizabeth Hurley and Tom Hanks, as well as media moguls David Geffen and Hugh Hefner.

Speaking exclusively to NME.COM during the party, Slim said: "I knew I was prostituting myself by being here, but I wanted to have a go at it. I had fun doing it. I'm really glad to be here. I saw Kirk Douglas!"

He jokingly compared the event to "like doing a wedding". He continued: "There's really lovely people here but they are not the kind of people I normally play to. They are not here to dance! If I was playing this sort of industry gig in England it would still be like playing for the old folks. They want to hear Bruce Springsteen and I don't do that!"

Although pleased to be at the event, Slim said the best crowds for him are "the opposite of this". He added: "Anywhere else on earth where you don't have concerts and things happening all the time. The thing about places like LA, London and New York is people can see the top bands any day of the week."

Elsewhere at the party, Sean 'Puffy' Combs was wearing a dapper pale suit with cream silk tie and pocket handkerchief set off by his big diamond earring.

Asked by NME.COM if he felt luckier than the winners, he replied, "I feel blessed".
