Sunrise Celebration Festival called off due to freak weather

Organisers forced to pull the plug on Yeovil event

Sunrise Celebration Festival called off due to freak weather

The Sunrise Celebration Festival due to take place in Yeovil this weekend (May 29 – June 1) has been called off due to flash flooding in the area.

Somerset was hit by freak rain last night (May 28) - causing widespread disruption in the area - and organisers have been forced to pull the plug on this year's event.

"Please stay at home, we're in a dire state here, everything is covered in mud," a spokesperson for the festival told NME.COM. "And if anyone has left please tell them to turn around as we have no way of accommodating them. It's a real shame."

The festival was due to feature the likes of The Orb and The Dub Pistols. The event has previously been compared by Michael Eavis to the early days of Glastonbury.

He declared: "The Sunrise Celebration seems to me to be something like what was here about 35 years ago."
