SOMEWHERE UNDER THE RAINBOW

The Scots round off their triumphant festival season...

FRANZ FERDINAND played top ten hit MATINEE beneath a rainbow at the CARLING WEEKEND: LEEDS festival today (August 29) in a set that included three new songs.

Opening with ’Auf Asche’, Alex Kapranos led the crowd through new songs ‘This Boy’ and ‘Your Diary’ and forthcoming single 'Can't Stop Feeling'.

The band were dressed in a new high-fashion take on their trademark blazer-and-ties look after being given free clothes by Dior Homme. Taking to NME.COM before the show, Alex laughed: "We used to wear stuff from Oxfam and now it's all designer, but I think we still wear it the same way."

frontman Alex Kapranos finished with debut single ‘Darts Of Pleasure’.

The band were also in fine form in the NME Signing Tent, despite staying at Reading late into last night. The show marks the end of a whirlwind festival season for Franz, having wowed Glastonbury, T In The Park, Fuji Rocks and Benicassim.

The setlist was:

‘Auf Asche’
‘Can’t Stop Feeling’
‘Jacqueline’
‘Tell Her Tonight’
‘Take Me Out’
‘This Boy’
‘Matinee’
