‘Rogue One’ star could reprise role in another ‘Star Wars’ movie

Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy has previously said there won't be a sequel to 'Rogue One'.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story actress Felicity Jones could reprise her role as Jyn Erso in a future film.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said last month (November) that no matter how well fans respond to the Star Wars spin-off, which hit cinemas earlier this week, there won’t be a sequel.

However, The Hollywood Reporter has now learned that Jones has one sequel option in her contract. Some fans are speculating that her character could appear in a Luke Skywalker stand-alone movie.

Jones recently revealed she was inspired by Beyoncé during filming for Rogue One, which opened in UK cinemas on Thursday.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first in Disney’s planned “Anthology Series” of spin-off films. The series will continue with the currently untitled Han Solo prequel movie due in 2018.

It was announced in July that rising star Alden Ehrenreich has been cast as a younger version of the character made famous by Harrison Ford. A third Anthology Series film will follow in 2020, Disney has since confirmed.
