’65 directors’ are being considered for Marvel’s Black Widow movie

Directors: Assemble.

More details have emerged on Marvel’s standalone Black Widow movie, and it seems that they’re being pretty methodical when it comes to choosing a director for the film.

According to Variety reporter Justin Kroll, bosses at the superhero studio are mulling over 65 possible directors for the project.

“Fun fact: More then 65 directors have met for the BLACK WIDOW job. Marvel being extremely thorough on this one”, he wrote on Twitter.

Although a director is yet to be announced, British helmer Amma Asante (Belle, A United Kingdom) and Chloe Zhao (The Rider) are believed to be among the leading names in contention for the role.

Earlier this year, it was announced that writer Jac Shaeffer had been hired for script development on the project.

It’s yet to be revealed if the project will act as an origins story that traces the roots of Natasha Romanoff, or if it’ll instead focus on her next move after the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War was released last week, with NME’s official verdict described the film as “an entertaining and surprisingly emotional flick”.

“There are flaws — a lot happens very quickly and some of the supposed main characters feel like cameos.

“Infinity War is under pressure to be the most exhilarating experience yet, but it sometimes sacrifices story for spectacle”, our review stated.

“Even Thanos (Josh Brolin) could do with a few more lines. For the most part though, this bonkers blockbuster is an entertaining and surprisingly emotional flick that will keep everybody happy.”
