Hathaway's next project has a script by 'The Office' veterans Mindy Kaling and Brent Forrester

Anne Hathaway is to star in a new romantic comedy film called The Low Self-Esteem Of Lizzie Gillespie.

The script has been written by Mindy Kaling – best known as Kelly Kapoor from the American version of The Office – and Brent Forrester, whose CV includes stints on The Office, The Simpsons and King Of The Hill.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hathaway will star as a woman whose low self-worth has always led to dating losers. However, her luck changes suddenly when “the hottest guy ever” starts chasing her.

Kaling is likely to take on a supporting role, while she and Forrester will serve as executive producers alongside John Malkovich, Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake. The project is still in development and looking for a director.

As well as playing Kelly Kapoor, Kaling wrote over 20 episodes of The Office and directed a further two. Her own sitcom, The Mindy Project, premiered on US network Fox last month (September 2012) and has since been renewed for a full season.

Hathaway is currently riding high on her acclaimed turn as Catwoman in this summer’s The Dark Knight Rises. She will next be seen in the big screen adaptation of Les Misérables, due in December (2012). You can watch a trailer below.
