Anthony Mackie to star with Chris Evans in ‘Captain America 2’?

'Hurt Locker' actor is reportedly in talks to appear alongside Chris Evans in 'Captain America 2'

Anthony Mackie is reportedly in talks to star with Chris Evans in the next Captain America film.

Mackie is best known for his role as Sergeant JT Sanborn in Oscar-winning 2009 film The Hurt Locker. He has since appeared in Real Steel, The Adjustment Bureau and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunters, which opened last month (June).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mackie is now in discussions with Marvel Studios about a role in Captain America 2. It is believed that Mackie could play a character called the Falcon who appears in the original Captain America comic books. The Falcon has the ability to communicate with birds telepathically and wears a special suit that enables him to fly.

Earlier this month (July), it was revealed that the second film in the superhero franchise will be called Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The sequel has a scheduled release date of April 4, 2014. It is expected to begin shooting after production on Thor 2 wraps later this year.

Last year’s Captain America: The First Avenger was directed by Joe Johnston, but the sequel will be steered by the Russo brothers, best known for their work on TV comedy Community. Chris Evans and Samuel L Jackson are both confirmed to return, but further casting announcements have yet to be made.
