The film already counts Christopher Nolan as executive producer, so it could become a Batman reunion
Batman’s Wally Pfister reportedly wants Christian Bale to star with Johnny Depp in his new movie Transcendence.
Pfister won an Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on 2010’s Inception, while his impressive CV also includes credits on Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and The Prestige. Transcendence will be his first project as director.
Last week (October 25), it was reported that Johnny Depp had been cast in the film, which revolves around a computer that develops a malevolent awareness. The script by rookie screenwriter Jack Paglen is said to have echoes of Inception and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Christopher Nolan is already on board as executive producer, while the LA Times is now reporting that Pfister wants to make the project a Batman reunion by casting Bale alongside Depp. Production details are being kept under wraps, but filming is expecting to take place in LA over the winter.
Previously, it was reported that James McAvoy and Tobey Maguire were in contention to co-star alongside Depp. Pfister is said to be eyeing Noomi Rapace as a potential female lead, while Christoph Waltz has reportedly been offered a supporting role.
