Carrie Fisher has apparently confirmed she is returning to Star Wars.
When asked by Palm Beach Illustrated whether she will reprising her iconic role as Princess Leia in Disney’s new Star Wars movie, Fisher responded with a simple, “Yes.”
Asked what Princess Leia would be like today, Fisher replied: “Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle.”
Fisher is known for her dry sense of humour, and it is very possible she was being flippant during this interview. Equally though, her old Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill has recently revealed he and the other original actors are in talks to return to Star Wars. It was even reported last month (February) that Harrison Ford has already signed a contract.
The new Star Wars movie is being helmed by JJ Abrams, director of this year’s Star Trek Into Darkness and co-creator of Lost. Toy Story 3 writer Michael Arndt has been hired to pen the script and Disney is aiming for a 2015 release.
