Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew is tweeting pages from his original ‘Star Wars’ script

Statuesque actor says he is about to make a 'big announcement'

Peter Mayhew, the statuesque actor who plays Star Wars‘ Chewbacca, is tweeting pages from an early version of the film’s script.

“Starting today I’ll post a few pages from my original @StarWars script each day leading up to a big announcement,” the actor teased yesterday (February 18). In the tweet he shared a picture of the front cover of “Journey of the Whills by George Lucas” and two pages from inside the script.

He then shared another three pages from the script earlier today (February 19).

Mayhew has yet to reveal how many pages of the script he will share, or when he will make his “big announcement”.

He returned as Chewbacca in last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens and is confirmed to reprise his iconic role in Episode VIII, which started shooting earlier this week. Disney has announced that Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern have joined the cast for the new movie, which is being directed by Looper‘s Rian Johnson and due for release in 2018.

Episode VIII will be preceded by a spin-off called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is being directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla). Disney’s CEO Bob Iger has recently said the film, which stars The Theory Of Everything‘s Felicity Jones, is “virtually completed” ahead of its release later this year.
