Christoph Waltz to star in ‘The Muppets’ sequel?

The 'Inglourious Basterds' star is in talks to play an Interpol agent alongside Kermit and the gang

Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz is reportedly in talks to appear in the next Muppets movie.

According to Variety, Waltz has been offered the role of an Interpol agent in the follow-up to 2011’s The Muppets. Disney officially confirmed the sequel back in April (2012).

The sequel is being scripted by James Bobin and Nicholas Stoller, who co-wrote last year’s hit reboot with star Jason Segel. However, Segel is not set to return. Bobin will once again serve as director.

Released last November (2011), The Muppets was the first big screen outing for Kermit and the gang in 12 years. The film, which also starred Amy Adams, grossed over $158 million (£98 million) worldwide and won Bret McKenzie an Oscar for his original song ‘Man Or Muppet’.

German-Austrian actor Waltz, 56, is best known for his Oscar-winning turn in Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglourious Basterds. He has since appeared in The Green Hornet and Water For Elephants and will feature in Tarantino’s new movie Django Unchained, which opens in UK cinemas in January.
