Colin Firth couldn’t be further from his Oscar-winning turn in The Kings Speech showcasing his fighting skills in the latest trailer for Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Also starring Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine the film is directed by Matthew Vaughn who made Kick Ass and X-Men: first Class.
Based on the comic book by Mark ‘Wanted’ Millar Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization. An independent national intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, the Kingsman agents are seen as the new Knights.
They recruit an unrefined but promising street kid with a huge IQ. Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin (played by Taron Egerton) has turned his back on joining the Royal Marines for a life of drugs and petty crime. He is inducted into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius (Jackson’s Valentine) who proclaims, “Mankind is the virus and I’m the cure!”
Speaking about his character, Jackson told Empire magazine: “I always thought of myself more as Bond than the villain. But as I got older, I realised that villains are a lot more colourful and a lot more interesting and a lot more outside the box. And the whole tongue-in-cheek Bondian aspect of the film is pretty great.”
Jackson will also be seen as the President in the action comedy Big Game in cinemas next year.
Also starring Mark Strong, Kingsman: The Secret Service is released in cinemas February 2015. Watch the latest trailer below.
