Daniel Craig plays stormtrooper in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, says new report

Rumours about the Bond actor's secret 'Star Wars' cameo have been reignited

Daniel Craig appears as a stormtrooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, according to a new report.

Simon Pegg let slip this summer that the 007 actor had filmed a secret cameo in J.J. Abrams’ movie, whose shoot at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire briefly overlapped with that of latest Bond film Spectre.

However, Craig quickly dismissed the story, saying: “Why would I ever bother doing something like that? Fucking hell! Pffft. Play an extra in another movie?”

Now the Daily Mail claims to have been informed by a Disney insider – off the record – that Craig’s cameo really did happen.

“You’re close to the truth. Nothing can be said on the record, because it will be denied,” the source apparently said. “They [Daniel and J.J.] concocted the cameo together. I don’t know which scene it is but yes, it does involve Daniel playing a stormtrooper, because they wear helmets and for the most part they’re anonymous.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, tipped to become the highest-grossing movie ever made, opened in UK cinemas yesterday and goes on general release across the US today (December 18). Read what the critics are saying about the film here.
