A Darth Vader comeback for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Darth Vader is set to make an appearance in the upcoming Star Wars’ prequel movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The movie is due for release on 16 December this year, and stars English actress Felicity Jones as the mercenary Jyn Erso, as well as the likes of Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker and Diego Luna.

Set between Episodes III and IV, the plot will cover rebel soldiers trying to steal plans for the first Death Star. According to Entertainment Weekly, an appearance by Darth Vader has been confirmed, with “never-before-seen characters” also being introduced.

EW went on to say that Darth Vader “looms large over the plot, even when he’s not necessarily on screen” with new villain Director Krennic finding he has “Vader looming in the background over his shoulder, making sure that he gets the job done”.

Last month (May 31) it was announced that Disney have ordered weeks of costly reshoots on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It has now been revealed that the film will end 10 minutes before Star Wars: A New Hope begins.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the goal of the reshoots will be to lighten the mood” as right now Rogue One has the “feel of a war movie”. The source continued to revealed that the film “takes place just before A New Hope and leads up to the 10 minutes before that classic film begins. You have to match the tone!”
