Actress calls the death, which occurred while she was out of town, 'an unthinkable tragedy'
Demi Moore has issued a public statement after a 21-year-old man was found dead in her swimming pool yesterday (July 19), saying she is “in absolute shock”.
The actress branded the man’s death, which occurred at her Los Angeles home while she was out of town, “an unthinkable tragedy”. The man, whose name has yet to be revealed, was pronounced dead at the scene when police arrived at Moore’s home in the early hours of Sunday morning in response to 911 calls. His drowning is believed to have been accidental.
“I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news,” Moore said in a statement issued to TheWrap. “The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time.”
Los Angeles Police Department officer Mike Lopez described the victim as “a 21-year-old male Hispanic from Los Angeles”. He is understood to have been invited to Moore’s house by one of the actress’ assistants for what Lopez called a “small gathering of about six people”.
