Singer is due to start shooting the follow-up to 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' in the spring
Director Bryan Singer has unveiled three new cast members for next year’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner – Sansa Stark in the HBO fantasy series – will play Jean Grey; The Tree of Life‘s Tye Sheridan will portray Cyclops and Alexandra Shipp, who starred as Aaliyah in a recent US TV biopic, has been cast as Storm.
All three characters have appeared in earlier X-Men films, played by Famke Janssen (Jean Grey), James Marsden (Cyclops) and Halle Berry (Storm). Singer took to Twitter earlier today (January 23) to unveil the franchise’s newest recruits.
Singer was confirmed to return as director for X-Men: Apocalypse back in September. Singer was also behind the camera for the first two X-Men films and last year’s Days of Future Past, which became the franchise’s most successful performer yet, taking $746 million (£475 million) at the worldwide box office.
Singer is due to start shooting X-Men: Apocalypse in the spring for a scheduled release date of May 27, 2016. Hugh Jackman has recently hinted that he will be returning as Wolverine, but Patrick Stewart has revealed that he and Ian McKellen won’t be reprising their roles as the older Professor X and Magneto.
